BASF Focuses on Going Small to Deliver Big for Superior Weed Management

Why small?

  • Because the tiniest molecules can spark monumental innovations for new types of herbicides, traits and product formulations
  • Because small talk can yield big ideas
  • Because micro-precision for weed management in the field can increase yields
  • Because our small planet is experiencing massive change

Simply put, supporting the biggest job on Earth demands that we sweat the small stuff. Focus on the smallest details. Innovate at microscopic levels. To support a grower’s weed management plan in the face of unpredictable weather and herbicide-resistant weeds, we must get down into the weeds. Literally and figuratively. And nobody gets into the weeds like we do.

Going Small to Deliver Big

Even the smallest weeds have the ability to devastate a grower’s entire operation, which is why for more than 100 years, BASF has been providing innovative burndown, pre- and post-emergent weed control solutions to growers, foresters, golf course superintendents and industrial land managers. From the first selective herbicide to herbicides that support modern, no-till farming, BASF is constantly innovating to protect against weeds. We’ve learned the greatest innovations come from the smallest details, like a genetic trait that leads to increased yields or a new site of action herbicide for a perfectly green fairway.

Our mission is chemistry for a sustainable future – from the broadest herbicide portfolio with the most modes of action to the deepest pipeline. By focusing on the small details, we support growers, land managers, foresters and others with leading-edge herbicide application technology and herbicide solutions for tough to manage, herbicide-resistant weeds. This history of innovation also allows us to create herbicide formulations and tolerant traits that are tailored to growers' needs.

When it comes to herbicides by BASF, we sweat the small stuff to help our customers deliver monumental solutions to the world.
