Our Innovation Challenge seeks to harness the power of cutting-edge technologies and creativity of startups worldwide to develop AI-driven solutions that address key sustainability issues. We are looking for groundbreaking ideas that have the potential to make a tangible impact.

Preferred focus areas

On the English farm "The Grange" farmer, Andrew Pitts brings modern agriculture and methods for protection of biodiversity together. The farm is supported by the European Farm Network, a BASF partnership with experts for agriculture and nature protection. Farmers, experts for agriculture and for nature conservation join their knowhow, create measures that increase sustainable farming and test them.

Farm network partners analyse the development of the biodiversity on the UK farm they have been cooperating with since 2008.

Sustainable Farming Practices

Companies that create innovative agricultural solutions that prioritize sustainability, use advanced methods to enhance crop yields while minimizing environmental impacts.

With only 50 microns in size, the riblets of NovaFlex SharkSkin are barely visible to the human eye. They only become visible under the raster electron microscope. Christian Kautz takes a very close look at samples and checks whether the angles and spacing of the riblets are correct. This is crucial for the sharkskin to play out its properties and optimize the aerodynamics of aircraft.

Farmers Frank Lawall and Dirk Wendel observe the effects of an innovative agricultural solutions product in a field. At BASF’s Rehhütte Farm, agricultural solutions products are tested under real-life conditions, providing results that can be used in the development of new active ingredients.
