Luximo™: the breakthrough soil-residual herbicide at the heart of complete grass weed management programmes.

Luximo herbicide is the breakthrough soil-residual herbicide providing the foundation for complete grass weed management programmes. It is the first new mode of action in decades, thus strengthening farmers’ integrated weed management toolbox for sustainable resistance management.

Luximo is a cutting-edge active ingredient that delivers residual control against a broad range of grasses, including resistant and difficult-to-control blackgrass and ryegrass in cereal crops. It is the sole representative of a unique class of chemistry called the cineoles that inhibits fatty acid thioesterase (FAT), an enzyme family involved in fatty acid biosynthesis. Through the inhibition of FAT enzymes, Luximo irreversibly disrupts cell membranes. In pre-emergence applications, weed seedlings are unable to survive and grow when fatty acid storage is depleted. Due to its new mode of action, Luximo will form an integral part of farmers’ integrated weed management toolbox for sustainable resistance management.

Luximo mode of action

Watch how Luximo works at the cellular membrane level to control grass weeds in cereals.

Foundational Weed Control
Luximo herbicide provides the fundation for effective control of grass weeds in cereals. It delivers strong performance againsta broad range of grasses, and consistently outperforms current market standards for a blackgrass and ryegrass control in Europe.
Innovative Resistance Management
As weed resistance continues to be more difficult to address, Luximo herbicide offers a new mode of action that can conrol resistant, cool-season grasses in wheat and other cereal crops. With no known cross-resistance, this preemergent herbicide will provide farmers with a sustainable tool in maintaining  the effectiveness of integrated weed control programs.
Broad Application
Luximo herbicide delivers residual grass control with broad crop selectivity and a favourable regulatory profile, allowing for global registration. Aside from cereals, it has broad selectivity in other crops, including rice, cotton, sugarcane, OSR, corn and soy.
Residual Control
Fields trials have shown that Luximo provides up to 12 weeks of residual control of grass weeds, which matches the benchmark set by current leading soil-active residual herbicides.

Field test results

Luximo delivers strong and consistent pre-emergent control of grass weeds:

Untreated control 555 ears/m2
BAS 684H (Luximo) 6 ears/ m2
The future is looking brighter for cereal crops.
