Did You Know Reducing Food Loss Starts With Seeds?

September 29 is the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste. Globally, 30-40% of food production is lost before it reaches the market because of pests, weeds and diseases on farms, during storage, processing, or transportation [1]. Developing resilient varieties helps reduce these losses and therefore avoids food waste.

In addition to plant breeding, seed treatment is a precise one-time application of biological and/or chemical crop protection products, nutrients, or biostimulants, to protect and help establish healthy plants during early development. This supports future harvests and reduces food losses on farms.
