In some countries, these proprieties are also used as natural remedies to keep pests away from homes, including for example use of pepper, vanilla, garlic, onion, lavender, and cinnamon. Naturally occurring pesticides have also inspired chemists to learn from nature and make synthetic versions as pesticides to protect crops
