    Crop Protection

    The center of BASF Crop Protection are our fungicides, herbicides and insecticides with their sophisticated active ingredients. Those ingredients are also the foundation for our highly innovative Seed Solutions and Plant Health solutions.

    On top, further areas requiring the control over „natural enemies“ come into play, adding the circle of non-agricultural applications.

    But BASF‘s crop potection products and services don‘t stop there. They also include non-agricultural applications like pest control, public health and others. Invasive plant species, mosquitoes, termites and other sources of damage and diseases are successfully kept at bay with these products, be it within buildings or outdoors.

    Plant Science

    BASF Plant Science plays an important role in developing genetically enhanced crops with a focus on higher yields and improved resistance to stress conditions. Its main research centers are located at its headquarters in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina (USA), as well as in St.-Jean-sur-Richelieu (Canada), Ghent (Belgium) and Berlin (Germany).

    Founded in 1998 as a BASF group subsidiary, BASF Plant Science focuses on solutions that deliver “more with less” and, as such, pave the way for a sustainable intensification of global agriculture. The company's key competencies are in gene discovery and gene modification and a top-notch academic network around the globe. It collaborates with leading seed, food and feed companies to bring solutions to the market. Together with Monsanto, BASF Plant Science developed the first genetically improved drought-tolerant corn. With Cargill, the company targets measures to achieve higher content of special omega-3's in canola oil for preventing cardiovascular diseases.
