    Farming & Crop Protection Green Muscle® - Green Guard®

Green Muscle® and Green Guard® – biological solutions for locust and grasshopper control

Green Muscle® and Green Guard® are based on naturally-occurring fungi for the population management and control of locusts and grasshoppers. While Green Muscle® is available in Africa/Middle east, Green Guard® is distributed in Australia. The biological insecticides are tailor-made solutions based on two different strains of the locust-killing fungus, Metarhizium anisopliae var. acridum. They form the active ingredient in Green Muscle® and Green Guard®.

Benefits of Green Muscle® and Green Guard®
    Non-toxic and target specific
Causing no harm to the environment
    Long-lasting control
Green Muscle® is recommended by the FAO for use in ecologically sensitive areas
Enables flexibility for pest management around harvest and sensitive treatment areas such as water sources

A major breakthrough in locust control

In the past, the only proven method of locust control has been the repeated application of chemicals. Fortunately, now environmentally friendly natural locust control products are available in Africa/Middle East and Australia.

    An alternative to chemical pesticides

These products are ideal for use in farming as well as conservation areas throughout the world.

    Reduced need for repeat applications

Field trials have demonstrated that the long-term kill rate of locusts with Green Muscle® and Green Guard® is higher than with chemical pesticides, even though chemical pesticides have a higher initial kill rate. A major advantage over many chemical pesticides is that the fungal spores in Green Muscle® and Green Guard® stay in the vegetation and continue to kill pests for several weeks, reducing the need for repeat treatments.
