Perennial plant mainly spreading via seeds, very good forage grass because of the high yields and high feed quality. Preferably occurs on nitrogen-rich, fresh soils.
The dark-green glossy leaves are rough on the upper side and smooth on the underside with a keel in the center. Ligules are short, transparent and barely visible, auricles weakly developed or stunted. The smooth, hair-free leaf blades can get up to 70 cm high. Open, longitudinal ears. The ears are without awns point lengthwise to the stalk. Approx. 150 seeds are formed per plant.
