BASF, Syngenta, and Arisa collaborate to improve labor standards in India’s vegetable seeds sector.

Launch of phase two for their multistakeholder collaboration, Wage Improvements in Seed Hybrids (WISH). Initiated in 2022, WISH focuses on addressing minimum wage compliance issues and child labor issues in India’s vegetable seed sector.

What is our approach?

Agricultural transformation requires collaboration across the entire food value chain, engaging all stakeholders from industry players to academia, NGOs and civil society to name a few. Farmers, suppliers, agronomists and other experts need to join forces to develop the farming methods of the future for farmers around the world to continue to make an adequate income, protect the land, and provide the world with abundant, healthy, and affordable food. This complex balance can only be achieved through more public and industry investment in agricultural research, dialogue, and the responsible, thoughtful behavior of everyone involved.
